The Susie Sloth workshop complements this by helping children discover one more lifelong skill, understanding how their breathing and bodies work, through fun, engaging activities that they'll remember long after the workshop has finished.
Every child carries their breath with them from the day they're born, yet very few are ever taught how to use it as a tool to support their wellbeing.
Helping children navigate today's world
Today's children are growing up in a fast-paced world, and schools are supporting increasing numbers of pupils with emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and readiness to learn. While we can't remove every challenge children face, we can equip them with lifelong skills to better understand and respond to them.
Schools do an incredible job of teaching children the knowledge and skills they'll use throughout their lives.
Teaching children to read so they can access knowledge for the rest of their lives.
Teaching them maths so they can solve problems.
Teaching them to brush their teeth to protect their long-term health.
Teaching them first aid so they know what to do in an emergency.
Teaching PE to help them look after their bodies
What pupils take away
By the end of the workshop, children will have explored practical skills they can continue using long after the session has finished.
A better understanding of how breathing affects their body.
Greater awareness of their emotions and physical sensations.
Simple strategies to help them feel calmer when they need them.
Healthy breathing habits they can practise every day.

More than just breathing
Breathing is much more than simply taking in oxygen. It's closely connected to the way our bodies respond to everyday situations.

Children are often encouraged to "calm down", "take a deep breath" or "stop and think". But when big emotions take over, many children simply haven't been taught how to calm their bodies.
The Susie Sloth workshop helps change that. children discover how their breathing and bodies work together. Rather than simply being told what to do, they learn practical skills they can understand, remember and use for themselves.
This isn't about asking children to "take a deep breath." It's about helping them understand how their amazing bodies work.
Through fun, evidence-informed activities, children discover how healthy breathing habits can support calm, focus and emotional wellbeing. Giving them practical skills they can continue to use both in and outside the classroom.
