About me

My Story

The journey that led me to create Physiology Flow

Becoming the person I couldn't find

As my own breathing began to improve, I started noticing my children's breathing too. My teenager with POTS and my twins have Down syndrome. I came to understand that many of the breathing patterns I was seeing are common in people with Down syndrome because of differences in airway anatomy, muscle tone and development

Like many parents, I wanted to know whether there was anything I could do to help them. I searched for someone with experience supporting children, particularly children with additional needs for my twins, but I couldn't find the guidance I was looking for.

So I made a decision that changed everything.

If I couldn't find the person I needed, perhaps I could become that person for them and for other families.

I trained as an Oxygen Advantage instructor and later discovered Charlotte Marsh's wonderful children's workshops, which gave me the perfect way to combine breathing education with fun and play. Along the way, I also fell in love with Body by Breath, which deepened my understanding of how breathing, movement, fascia and the nervous system work together.

What started as a personal search for answers had become a new purpose.

My journey continues

As I continued learning, I realised that breathing doesn't exist in isolation. It's deeply connected to how we move, how safe our nervous system feels, how we sleep, how we recover and how we experience the world around us.

One of the biggest things I've learned is that our bodies are never as simple as they first appear.

That understanding has shaped the way I work today. Functional breathing remains at the heart of what I do, but I also recognise that lasting change often comes from supporting the whole person—not just their breathing

My own journey is still evolving. I continue to work on my functional breathing and my nervous system, every client I meet and every new discovery deepens my understanding of how breathing, movement and the nervous system work together.

Supporting my children also taught me that every person has a different starting point. Sometimes breathing exercises are the right place to begin. Sometimes the nervous system, movement or creating a greater sense of safety needs to come first. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and that's something I carry into every session I teach.

My approach is always centred on curiosity rather than judgement.

Why Physiology Flow exists

I created Physiology Flow because I believe people deserve to understand what's happening inside their own bodies.

Too often we think we're failing, that we're not fit enough, calm enough or resilient enough.

I don't believe people are broken.

I believe we're all doing the best we can with the physiology we have and the world we live in.

When we understand how our breathing, nervous system and body work together, we stop fighting against ourselves and start working with our physiology instead.

Whether I'm supporting adults, children, families or organisations, my goal is always the same: to empower people with knowledge, practical tools and confidence so they can better understand their bodies and support their health for life.

"Curiosity was the first breath of change"

Where it all began

A few years ago, I went to my regular yoga class expecting a relaxing morning session, but I left with something much more valuable: a question.

At the end of the class, my teacher introduced us to the basics of the oxygen advantage functional breathing method. Everyone around me seemed to feel calm and relaxed after the breathing exercises. I didn't. They made me feel anxious and uncomfortable.

At the time, I assumed breathing exercises just weren't for me, or that I was doing something wrong.

But one idea stayed with me, breathing through the nose simply made sense. The more I learned, the more curious I became, why did I react so strongly to breathwork and why had I always found breathing while doing exercise so hard. That curiosity would eventually change the direction of my life.

" I realised that breathing wasn't just about getting oxygen. It influenced how my whole body functioned"

When curiosity became a journey

Around the same time I began experiencing what I thought were symptoms of perimenopause. I felt overwhelmed, anxious and exhausted. My body was constantly tense, I struggled with aches and pains, and low energy.

Supporting my hormone balance helped a little, but it felt like there was more to it than that.

Then I rediscovered the Oxygen Advantage method, a social media post answered the questions I had about my breathing. when I doing cardio workouts I was experiencing exercise-induced bronchoconstriction and although my breathing at rest seemed to be fine, it wasn't as efficient as it should be and was driving my overwhelm and anxiety.

As I began practising functional breathing exercises to support my overwhelm, something unexpected happened. Not only did my anxiety reduce,, but my lower back ache disappeared within weeks. The constant tension in my neck and shoulders eased and I gradually gained the energy to exercise more easily.

"I couldn't find the person I needed, so I decided to become that person."

As an Oxygen Advantage instructor and Physiology First leader, I combine proven methods with a mission to make breathwork, movement and nervous system regulation accessible, inclusive and practical for everyday life.

Grounded in science, guided by community

the affiliations I have and methods I use reflect my commitment to supporting individuals, families and communities with tools that truly make a difference.

Oxygen Advantage®

The Oxygen Advantage is a science-based breathing method developed to improve health, performance, and overall wellbeing.

Offering simple tools, tailored to individual needs, that reduce stress, enhance sleep, increase energy, and support both physical and mental resilience.

The oxygen Advantage method teaches you how to improve functional breathing patterns, which will:

  • Allow you to become fitter and stronger.

  • Reduce breathlessness.

  • Relieve the symptoms of many common illnesses.

  • Improve energy levels, concentration, and mental focus.

Physiology First

Physiology First is a wellness and education organisation that teaches the science of the body to improve physical and mental health.

Optimal health starts with understanding and addressing the body's foundational physiological needs, such as sleep, breathing, nutrition and exercise.

Health isn't something we "have"

It's something we have to DO.

Energy isn't something "have"

It's something we create by staying active.

We're supposed to feel like crap when we don't prioritize our health, it's a survival mechanism.

It's time to provide the next generation with education before medication, skills before pills, and the knowledge of their physiology, First.

Body by Breath

feeling better in your body is learnable. Breath is one of the most accessible ways to get there.

The Body by Breath®️class explores how breath, fascia, and the vagus nerve work together to support regulation and resilience.

Through the use of specific breath and rolling (self-myofascial massage) techniques you’ll :
• Use breath, touch, and movement to guide downregulation
• Support emotional regulation through interoception
• Improve safety and relaxation with proprioceptive input

• Explore breathing mechanics with therapy ball release
• Use breathwork to support nervous system regulation
